Responsibility

Towards the Planet, the Climate, and Our Colleagues

The Hotel’s Responsibility

We are committed to running a responsible hotel business in every sense. We recognize that this is a significant task, but we always prioritize decisions that gradually bring us closer to our goal.

Our responsibility extends from the well-being and development of our employees to broader issues like ensuring we leave as minimal a carbon footprint as possible.

Social Responsibility

While it may sound lofty, in our daily work, we consider both human rights and global goals. According to the UN’s eighth Sustainable Development Goal, we must ensure a stable work environment for all employees, with opportunities for growth. We are proud to note that we have almost no sick days among our staff. We interpret this as a sign of general well-being—our employees are happy to come to work, feel seen and heard, and are treated as whole individuals. We also place a strong emphasis on skill development, offering courses in areas like wine, service, or other relevant fields to support the continued growth of our employees.

Environmental Responsibility

We are dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism, both in our kitchen and throughout all areas of our business. Since March 2022, we’ve held the Bronze Organic Cuisine Label, meaning that 30-60% of our total food purchases are organic. We actively work to create a healthy food culture focused on sustainability and minimizing the distance from farm to table.

Among our specific initiatives, we are proud to be the first hotel in Denmark to transition from environmentally harmful paper towels to the upcycled, reusable Håndfrotté product developed by DFD. Over its lifespan, 100 håndfrotté cloths replace 60,000-90,000 paper towels, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

We are not done yet, and we know there is always room for improvement. However, we believe these steps demonstrate to our guests that we are committed to making conscious, responsible choices for the greater good.

The Organic Eating Label in bronze

In recent years, the hotel has focused on making a healthy food culture a natural part of the hotel's restaurant, café and wine bar. Jørgensens Hotel's focus on ecology supports the hotel's work to create a green profile, where there is a special focus on sustainability, better animal welfare, space for nature, consideration for the environment and a holistic approach from farm to fork.

Danish Conference Centres' World Goal Index

Jørgensens Hotel is certified in the Danish Conference Centre's World Goal Index for sustainable development in the meeting and hotel industry. The certification means that we at the hotel have committed ourselves to working with the association's goals. At present, we have efforts within seven out of the 17 goals, including:

Health and well-being
We ensure proper conditions for our employees.

Clean water and sanitation
We minimize waste of water and use Swan-labelled cleaning articles and eco-certified bedding.

Sustainable energy
We have energy-saving light sources everywhere, buy green electricity and use district heating.
